South Africa v Netherland: ICC World Cup 2011- preview
South Africa will face Netherland in their second match of ICC World Cup 2011 on Thursday, 3 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali.
Proteas are tagged as one of the favorites to win the coveted trophy. Their opponents, who are considered minnows, will try to copy a page from the Irish team’s playbook. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 caused the first upset of this tournament as they defeated England on Wednesday,
2 March.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 played their first game against the West Indies on Thursday, 24 February which they won quite comfortably. They restricted the Caribbean side to 222 and chased that total in 42.5 overs with seven wickets in hand.
The Dutch side faced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 on Monday, 28 February. They however were thrashed by the Caribbean side and will be hoping for a change in fortunes. Netherland captain, Peter Borren is confident that they’ll bounce back as he commented, “We certainly have
more potential than what we showed against them [West Indies].”
The pitch at Mohali may have some extra pace as compared to pitches on other grounds. So Proteas pacers will try to exploit this extra pace and dismantle their opposition. Vincent Barnes, assistant coach for the South Africans said, “We are expecting a lot
more pace and bounce from the wicket than was the case in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780. Conditions will be very different because it's a day match and dew will not play a role.”
Team form
The African side is in good form and they’ll want to continue with that and gain momentum for upcoming matches against tougher oppositions. They have won three matches of the last five played.
The Dutch side might not have been taken seriously before but with Ireland beating England, it is clear that International Cricket Council (ICC) Associate teams mean business and are not to be taken lightly as they are fully capable of causing an upset.
The Dutch side has been able to pick only one win from the last five fixtures.
Key players
