South Africa v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 wants fans to bear with him while he develops captaincy skills – Cricket News Update
Newly appointed skipper of South Africa’s limited overs team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Robert-Border-c43726 de Villiers, has admitted that he is a newcomer when it comes to leading a side. The 27-year-old has urged supporters to bear with him, while he develops the skills
during the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
De Villiers asserted that he is not as experienced as his predecessor, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Smith-c90598 did during
his reign. The right-handed batter is poised towards an attacking approach and will also experiment with different combinations.
De Villiers said, “I'm younger and less experienced than Graeme, so expect a few mistakes. We're obviously different human beings and won't be the same out on the field. I also won't be scared to try out new things, to express
a bit of flair, hopefully to the benefit of the team.”
The Pretoria born cricketer will be doing multiple jobs at one time, he will also be rendering the services of wicket-keeping along with leading the side.
Smith has led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in 149 ODI matches from 2003 till 2011, and having a player with such knowledge in the contingent comes as a blessing for De Villiers. The 27-year-old was delighted to have Smith around his corner, because
he can always turn up to him in his hour of need.
The hard-hitting batsman said, “I know I'll have Graeme at my shoulder but he's also said he'll let me captain the way I want to. He won't interfere but he'll certainly help out when I do go a little wayward.”
The Proteas won the Test series against the touring Sri Lankan team and will now look to continue the momentum in the five match ODI series, which kicks-off on Wednesday, January 11 with a game at Boland Park, Paarl.
The hosts hold the advantage over Sri Lankans, as they have won eight of the ten matches played between the two sides in South Africa.
