South Africa versus http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 T20 review
The 2nd T20 match of the 2 match series between South Africa and Zimbabwe didn’t prove to be a boring one sided battle. Every single fan in the World expected an affair of inequality, but Zimbabwe took part in a hard fought contest.
In a spectacular game of cricket at Kimberly, South Africans did beat Zimbabweans by 8 runs in a batting dominated match. The 2nd affair between the two outfits proved to be a close one.
However, Proteas piled up 194 runs in their first innings of the match. It looked like Zimbabwe would fall way short as the pressure of a mountain total can easily get to a side, while batting second in a match. From the first ball of the match till the
last, the contest was hard fought.
South Africa, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, started off in a sedate fashion as they lost Bosman in the first over with 6 runs on the board. Graeme Smith carried on his form from the first match, and hammered the Zimbabwean attack from
start. Utseya beat Colin Ingram to get him bowled out, taking his second wicket for the innings as the score was 2/29 in 3 overs.
J P Duminy joined his captain, who was already taking the oppositions attack to the cleaners. The pair added 45 runs for the 3rd wicket, before Smith fell to Brendon Taylor on 46 off 27 balls, hitting 7 boundaries and a six. Duminy took charge
after his skipper left.
Duminy was joined by the youngster http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-Miller-c53105, who has shown enough promise to play at this level. Both the youngsters boosted the total to 143 in 16 overs, till Miller got out on the bowling of Masakadza, scoring a brisk 25 runs.
South African wickets fell in pairs as Peterson and Kuhn went without bothering the score much, adding a run each. Duminy went on and on with his own flow, scoring a magnificent innings of an unbeaten 96 runs as the innings ended at 194/6 in 20 overs.
Zimbabweans started their innings in a solid manner as they scored 15 in 2 overs, losing the wicket of their attacking opener Masakadza. Proteas didn’t know what was coming from their opposition. Brendon http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 and Chibhabha went ballistic as they struck
the white cherry all-around the park.
They pair added 107 runs of 68 balls for the 2nd wicket. Chibhabha, then tried to hit one over the off-side for six, but only managed to scoop it in the air and was caught on the boundary by Parnell. His innings of 59 runs in 41 balls comprised
of six boundaries and two towering sixes.
Coventry replaced Chibhabha, and only managed to add 8 runs to the total as he lofted it straight to mid-off to give Peterson his first wicket for the day.
The burden fell on the shoulders of Taylor. The right hander then started to milk the ball as wickets were crumbling around him. They required rate was climbing and Taylor had to step up the gear. In doing so, he became the victim of the situation as he
hit the ball in the air to cover boundary and Theron held it firmly to give Peterson his 2nd wicket. Taylor’s innings of 59 runs off 39 balls includes four boundaries and 3 sixes.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Elton-Chigumbura-c55937, was still looking for an emphatic win as he scored a brisk
25 runs off 16 balls.
Zimbabweans only managed to score 40 runs, losing 3 more wickets in their last four overs.
South African quick bowler, Theron had other ideas as his mean medium pace bowling did not let his opponents to cross the target as they fell short of just 8 runs. Theron’s bowling emerged as the telling difference when the Zimbabwean batsmen were looking
to seal the target of 194 as he took 2/27 in his four overs.
Duminy’s breathtaking display of 96 runs earned him the man-of-the-match award.
