South African coach calls for improved batting from Boucher
The South African coach, Corie van Zyl has said that wicket-keeper Mark Boucher needs to improve his game a lot in order to ensure that he gets back into the ODI or the T20I squad. Boucher, who is still a part of the Test team, was axed as the wicket-keeper
of the shorter versions of the game, and replaced by Heino Kuhn and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887.
The squad that was announced for the T20Is, ODIs and Test matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 saw the selectors continue with their approach of having de Villiers double up as a middle-order batsman and a wicket-keeper. De Villiers is a part-time wicket-keeper,
and is said to have taken up the role to add more balance to the side.
Van Zyl said that he had spoken to Boucher about the reasons for his exclusion and that he had spoken with the wicket-keeper.
Boucher’s batting in the shorter version of the game has definitely been one of the reasons for his axe. In the last ten ODIs, Boucher has scored his runs at an average of less than 22 – hardly doing justice to his talent. In recent times, teams all over have
had wicket-keepers opening the innings for them and providing them with quick starts.
To overcome this issue, the South African side had de Villiers keeping wickets in the recently concluded West Indian series, and he seemed to have done a decent job behind the stumps.
Boucher will now play for his South African franchise, Warriors, in the domestic MTN40 tournament. He is currently a part of the Warriors playing in the Champions League T20 and was one of the batsmen responsible for his side’s win over Wayamba in their first
game.
Herschelle http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gibbs-c60021 was another batsman who missed out on the squads for all the three formats but the coach said that he could also make a comeback if he got back to his scoring ways.
The series against Zimbabwe will be played in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, while the tour against Pakistan will in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
