South African cricketer Wayne Parnell converts to Islam - Cricket News Update
Wayne “Parny” Parnell, South African cricketer, has entered the circle of Islam. The left-arm pacer decided to become a Muslim on the basis of his own study and without any undue influence from any member of his team.
Parny disclosed this news now, whereas, he had accepted Islam as his religion of choice in January, 2011.
The left-arm bowler revealed about his religion during an interview. The pacer announced that despite his conversion to Islam, he has not yet changed his name. He further declared that amongst the Muslim names that he will choose for himself, “Waleed” is
the one under consideration.
A company, which deals in alcoholic beverages, is the official sponsor of South African cricket Team. The bowler states that he will continue to wear Proteas http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HM-Amla-c1557, will respect endorsement.
Parnell fondly said, “While I have not yet decided on an Islamic name I have considered the name Waleed which means Newborn Son, but for now my name remains http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WD-Parnell-c2787. I will continue to respect the team's endorsement of alcoholic beverages. I
am playing cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852 and this is my immediate focus.”
Team manager of South African team, Mohamed Moosajee, confirmed the news that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-c64193 Tahir have nothing to do with Parnell’s conversion.
An undisclosed cricketer shared that the cricketer refrained from drinking alcohol during the Indian Premier League (IPL) season four. The cricketer reinforced Moosajee’s claims by saying that Amla has never preached Islam to any countryman; however, the
cricketer said that Amla commands great respect from his team mates.
The young pacer, who’ll turn 22 on Friday, July 29, 2011, is eagerly waiting for the Muslim month of Ramadan, during which the followers of the religion observe fasting.
Parnell said, “As I am approaching my first period of fasting, I ask that this special time is treated with respect. I am a young man, a professional cricketer by trade, and while I can appreciate and am grateful for the public interest in my personal life,
my faith choice is a matter which I would like to keep private.”
The left-arm bowler was born to a Christian family on July 30, 1989. Parnell is not the first Christian cricketer to change his religion, Pakistani cricketer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Yousuf-c77465, formerly known as Yousaf Youhana, also accepted Islamic faith back in 2006.
