South African duo Chiliboy Ralepelle and Bjorn Basson to face Judicial Committee
Chiliboy Ralepelle and Bjorn Basson, the South African duo will be facing a judicial committee in Cape Town. They were tested positive for consuming the banned stimulants after South African win over 23-21 over Ireland. A quantity of methylhexaneamine was
found in their blood sample and later their ‘B’ samples were also diagnosed positive.
Ralepelle and Bjorn Basson were immediately suspended under rules of International Rugby Board and were banned from all the other rugby activities shortly after. Though, it is still a myth that whether they took the stimulants on purpose or was it the case
of unintentional medical supplement given.
Methylhexaneamine is also referred as dimethylamylamine (DMAA) and is a drug used as a nasal decongestant and also used in the treatment of hyperplasic oral tissues. It is extensively used as an ingredient in New Zealand for party pills. It is now widespread
constituent in dietetic supplements and has the ability to stay in the body for about 24 hours. The drug was announced as an illegal substance foe usage in sports in year 2009, but relegated its taxonomy at the start of 2011 after the numerous amounts of not
premeditated positive tests.
Springbok’s management without more ado ceased the usage of all the supplements in their storage and initiated a detailed investigation, in order to find the source of this embarrassing development. It is feared by the management the substance might be contained
in one of the medications given to the South African elite squad.
The South African Rugby Union Judicial Committee compromises if three personals, including advocate Jannie Lubbe, advocate Rob Stelzner and Dr George van Dugteren. Anyhow, Frans Ludeke the Bulls coach seems pretty positive and was optimistic that the South
African duo will be available for his squad for the starting matches of coming Super 15 season.
