I'm thinking of Emmigrating to New Zealand. With the way things are progressing in South Africa, I just don't feel safe raising a child here anymore. Any information on which areas of New Zealand are most like home - Cape Town - would be greatly appreciated. I also need to know how to get my mom, who is now in her 60's over there and how long it will take to get here there.

I'm concerned about the weather...is it really that much colder? And how about the quality of life. How easy is it to find work and to live comfortably. It is too expensive in Cape Town and I'm holding down two jobs to keep the same quality of life that I had two years ago. I'm trained as a Graphic designer/Textile designer. Perhaps i should be looking at doing some course in IT so that I can get in more easily?

As I have said, any info would be welcome. Things are getting more frightening here all the time and I just want us to be safe. But not bored, right? Is it really quiet out of Aukland?

  1. Yup, it seems that SA is heading the direction of Zimbabwe quicker than most thought.

You're doing the right thing, and after a year or two of settling in and homesickness you will never look back!

    Be strong.

Weather in Auckland is warm enough (never really gets that cold there), in Christchurch it rains less but has chillier winters, still not too bad though.

Your best job opportunities will be in Auckland, but depending on how you are getting (what visa) it may suit you to look outside Auckland (points wise).

Here's the link to the NZ section.

    All the best!

  2. This is the Australia category ....not N Zealand
