South African youth and politics?

Question

How much do you think South African youth knows about whats going on in South Africa?

I will quote a few lines from youth interviewed in yesterdays programme on SABC - Sabalaza:

1. A kid has to wait for a liver for 6 months whilst Manto drinks hers and gets a transplant in a month

2. The Anc is like the Titanic and is slowly sinking, its up to youth to join other parties to save those sinking with it.

3. Toyi toying is problematic to a degree as people express their anger through trashing places which I dont see being right

4. The poor are so clung on ANC and keep voting for the same party that destroys their lives

5. I hate living in a place that has me constantly looking over my shoulder even in my own house

6. If you are a memeber of the elite and become a minister you're set for life, so why would you care about those beneath you?- young blac

7. They're live like celebrities only caring about making the tabloids with their flashy cars and taking showers

i just started working for a company and yesterday  i was told that the youth starts from the age of 19 to 35, now tell what does a 35 year old know about whats happening in the life of a 19 or a 23 year, its not that the youth is not being heard but who will be interested in what a 20 something has to say when there are people over 30claiming that they are the youth in south africa.

I think the youth knows more than most South Africans around hey. However I think that maybe they still lack leadership on how to raise their voices and make themselves heard.

Lets hope by the time they grow up, we will have a better future!

Well it is promising that our youth are aware of our problems.

Unfortunately it seems like you need to be a geriatric to become a political leader in this country. By the time these lighties are old enough to be political leaders - it might be too late.
