South Australia clinches victory over Queensland in Big Bash Twenty20
South Australia clinched a 10-run victory against Queensland in a Big Bash Twenty20 tournament match played at Adelaide.
Queensland opened with Captain Michael Klinger and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Harris-c1310 after winning the toss, but the start wasn’t good for the team. The South Australian captain fell in the very first over of the match.
Daniel Christian and Harris recovered from the early loss, and took the team to a good position with an 88-run partnership. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 amassed 94 runs in just nine overs and things looked to be headed in the right direction for them.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 bowlers then bounced back in the match by taking a few quick wickets. Christian was one of the wickets to fall, but by that time he had scored 41 runs off just 25 balls. His innings included five fours and one six.
Harris scored 45 runs off just 36 balls before getting out, and he hit the same number of boundaries as Christian had in his innings. The team looked in a strong position and it seemed that they would score over 170, but the middle-order collapsed. All of
a sudden, South Australia were 106 for the loss of four wickets.
Callum Ferguson remained positive and wasn’t unsettled by the loss of wickets. He remained unbeaten on 38 from 27 balls. He hit one six and a four to take the total to 159 for his team. The bowling was poor in the first half of the South Australian innings,
but Queensland bounced back in the match, after some good bowling from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Simpson-c1251 and captain James Hopes. Simpson took three wickets in the match whereas Hopes dismissed two batsmen.
Michael Lumb gave an explosive start to the Queensland team but they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Lumb was the innings top-scorer with 24 runs but the middle-order collapsed.
Most of the batsmen got starts but none was able to convert it into a match winning innings. When Queensland looked totally out of the match, a last minute effort from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Cutting-c1132 gave some hope to the team. Cutting remained unbeaten on 23 runs off 13 balls
but his innings went in vain, as his team ended-up 10 runs short of South Australia’s total.
