http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 fight back against Queensland in Sheffield Shield
The Sheffield Shield match between Queensland and South Australia (SA) seems to be headed towards a draw after SA ended the second day at 275 for the loss of seven wickets. They are still 72 runs behind the first innings total of Queensland.
The wicket at the Adelaide Oval seems to be on the slower side but there is not much assistance for the bowlers in it. There was some moisture beneath the surface at the start of the match but it appears to have dried out in two days.
At tea, SA had amassed 200 runs for the loss of five wickets and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Manou-c1504 was the key for his team. He was unbeaten on 34 when the post-lunch session was called-off by the umpires. The start to the final session was dismal for SA as they lost Cullen
Bailey early without adding any run to the total. Bailey faced 15 balls, but failed to open his account. He had to take the long walk back to the pavilion courtesy some good bowling from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 Captain James Hopes.
At that stage, the momentum seemed to be with Queensland, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kane-Richardson-c1765 provided good support to wicketkeeper batsman Manou and took the team to a safe position. The pair put together a solid half-century partnership for the seventh wicket and made
sure that their team was out of trouble. However, Richardson was dismissed after scoring 25 runs off 70 balls.
Richardson would have been disappointed to lose his wicket at that stage. He was well set and could have scored plenty of runs on a flat batting track. The fall of wickets however, didn’t bother Manou at all, as he scored an unbeaten 80 off 164 balls before
the day was called off. He will be looking forward to scoring a century for his team tomorrow to ensure that they get a lead over Queensland.
It will be a tough ask though, as seven wickets have already fallen and the tail-enders are exposed. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Neser-c1960 and James Hopes were the main wicket-takers for Queensland. They took two wickets each for their team. The bowlers will be hoping
to finish things off early tomorrow and then possibly set a target for SA on the final day of play.
On the other hand, SA will be looking forward to scoring as many runs as possible tomorrow and overcoming Queensland’s first innings lead. However, it will not be easy for them, and the first hour of play will be crucial for both teams.
