South Korea announce final Fifa World Cup squad
Former Middlesbrough striker Lee Dong-g**k has been included in the 23 man South Korea squad for the World Cup finals, despite suffering with a hamstring injury that will probably see him miss their opening game.
Coach Huh Jung-Moo will probably be without the 31-year-old Jeonbuk Motors forward against Greece on June 12th, but has still included him at the expense of Jubilo Iwata’s Lee Keun-Ho, while Bolton Wanderers’ Lee Chung-Yong, Celtic midfielder Ki Sung-Yong and Manchester United’s Park Ji-Sung, the captain, are all included.
Veteran forward Ahn Jung-Hwan – scorer of the famous golden goal that knocked out Italy in the 2002 tournament – is also in the squad, while 20-year-old midfielder Kim Bo-Kyung has also made the cut.
Lee Keun-Ho, Shin Hyung-Min and Koo Ja-Cheol are the three men who have been dropped from coach Huh’s preliminary squad.
South Korea play a friendly against Spain on Thursday, before entering Group B battle against Greece, Argentina and Nigeria.
