South Korean Hee-Won Han impresses fans in second round at Ohio
South Korean Hee-Won Han was one of the players in the second round of Jamie Farr Toledo Classic 2012 who improved their positions after scoring well.
Han posted a 67 on Friday to tie for the fifth position on the leaderboard. The South Korean star kicked off the second round at Highland Meadows Golf Club, Ohio, in amazing style as she made perfect strokes
on most of the holes.
She parred the first two holes and shot a birdie on the third gaining much-needed confidence. Han looked a little under pressure at the start of the tournament, as most of the contenders she faced were among
the hot favourites for the coveted LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) title.
Despite the weather playing havoc on the course, most of the contenders stood firm and scored well. With rough winds sweeping through the course all day, Han made sure she remained in contention till the final
moments of the round, and she avoided making any bogey.
Commentators said that Han’s good performance in the first two rounds will help her keep moving forward on the third and fourth day.
They said that the young star has proved her critics wrong by making a solid start in an event featuring players like Stacy Lewis of the United States, current world number one Yani Tseng, Paula Creamer, Brittany
Lincicome, Na Yeon Choi, Inbee Park, Suzann Pettersen, Cristie Kerr, Chella Choi and Mika Miyazato.
Speaking to the media about her stellar performance, Han said that she is more than thrilled after outperforming players far better than her. She said that she hopes to do the same in the next two rounds, but
she will have to keep a close eye on rivals eager to topple her from her position.
She went on to say that the weather troubled her at the start but she overcame her nerves and played a natural game throughout the second day.
“It was pretty good.  I mean, a lot of back and forth.  The four birdies, no bogeys, that's why I'm happy to be here.  I was just with him last year, but not this year.  It's pretty tough, but it's pretty good
to be with the son,” Han said.
“Hopefully weather's getting good for next two days.  This golf course has lots of opportunities for birdies.  Just keep playing good and make lots of birdies”.
