South Korean Hyo Joo Kim grabs attention in France
South Korean Hyo Joo Kim was more than happy after she finished tied for fourth position at the Evian Masters 2012 as she posted an overall 274.
Kim finished tied along with Chinese Shanshan Feng and American Natalie Gulbis, who also stunned the spectators at Evian-les-Bains, France, with their performance.
Underrated due to her unimpressive profile and less experience, Kim proved that she was hard to subdue and she made it difficult for most of her rivals to play comfortably.
The South Korean star kicked off the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) event with a great vigour, as she recorded a 69 in the opening round.
A solid score in the opening round helped Kim boost her confidence and she entered into the second round in a more impressive style.
The young LPGA star proved tough in the second round as she carded a 68. Kim’s above-average performance in the first two rounds helped her consolidate her position on the leaderboard and she put everything
into motion in the next rounds.
Although she faced big names like Lewis and current world number one Yani Tseng, she did not waver for a moment and kept moving ahead on the back of reliance and a solid work ethic.
Kim scored a 69 and 68 in the third and fourth round respectively.
Speaking to the media about her electrifying performance in the Evian Masters 2012, Kim said that she did not think of beating prominent LPGA players, and is pretty happy with what she did on the course.
She went on to say that she faltered a little on some holes in all the four rounds, but overall, her game was better than she expected.
When asked if she regretted missing a chance to clinch an LPGA win at the Evian Masters, Kim said that she is not unhappy, as she was able to record a solid finish.
“I had a lot of mistakes and I'm a little bit frustrated. But, you know, I had a good finish this week even if I didn't win. I feel great right now,” the rising star said.
“I have unsatisfied feeling during the round but I tried to forget it. Anyway, I have great result for this tournament. Nothing to regret”.
