South Sydney Rabbitohs marching into clash against Cowboys without Greg Inglis
Greg Inglis of South Sydney Rabbitohs has been pulled out of the clash which is scheduled against North Queensland Cowboys tonight, August 19, at ANZ Stadium, New South Wales. This last minute withdrawal has been carried out because Inglis failed the fitness
examination in the morning. However, Fetuli Talanoa will replace Inglis for the centre’s spot.
According to Allan Gainey, who is Inglis’ manager, the player will not return to action until round 25 of the National Rugby League (NRL). It was assured that at least that much time will be required by Inglis to regain his full fitness. Inglis had earlier
received a major blow to his head during the first-half of the clash against the Raiders, which had kept him out of the remaining game.
While speaking about the problems which forced the player out of the current NRL round, Gainey stated, "He's just had some headaches on and off all week. He's been ruled out. He had a test at training this morning and the club doesn't want to take any chances.
They don’t take risks on things like this these days. Greg said he feels fine, so he’ll definitely play next week."
It was further stressed upon by Inglis’ manager that if a player is unfit, the entire outfit should not suffer because of it. He went on to mention that Inglis understand that the club cannot risk his health and the clubs upcoming matches.
With Inglis already out from the squad to face the Cowboys tonight, all eyes are on Chris Sandow, who will fill in for the halfback’s spot with Rabbitohs for round 24, as Inglis’ manager has already confirmed the return of Inglis for round twenty-five.
The Rabbitohs bagged a win of 32-4 over the Cowboys at ANZ Stadium in round 13 of last year. This year South Sydney is marching into the encounter expecting a massive victory over their rivals. With Inglis the only change in the team, the remaining squad
is the same as the last two weeks’ line-up.
