Now that South Africa has 2 teams in the super 14 finals does this bode well for the world cup if the government keeps out of the selection.

  1. i dont think so, there are two english teams in the final of the heineken cup, but do you think that england have a realistic chance of winning the world cup? 22 of new zealands top players were taken away from their clubs at the start of the super 14 and there is no guarantee that the government will keep out though im totally against it, by trying to equal, they are in fact discriminating against some white players that could be better. jake white will pick his best squad regardless of colour

  2. The South African teams might be at the top of the world at the moment, but I'm starting to think they might have reached their peak to early. Only time will tell.

I think it's utter rubbish that government bodies have a say in team selection. Political and economical strategies such as Affirmative action and Black Economic empowerment are filtering through to sport and I cannot help to think that these are fancy names for reverse racism towards Caucasian people in South Africa. As a result our best teams does not get picked. It also affects the players. Talented black players might be lead to believe their only their to fill the quota. Political issues like this can divide teams.

Hoping politics stays out of SA rugby.

  3. I think yes!!! What the government fails to realize is that they are throwing in players that are not necessarily the best. If they want the Boks to win they have to leave the selection process alone and allow the best players the country has to play.
