  1. You can enter on your British Passport but then you have to have a return ticket back to the UK. Whilst here apply for your new SA passport 6 - 8 weeks waiting period normally.

  2. If you have a valid UK passport I dont think you will be arrested. Lots of people in SA use dual passports. Check with the SA embassy in londen.

  3. I think you might be able to enter if you have your SA ID book with you & proof of bank accounts.

    Good Luck

  4. I have copied and pasted straight from the South African High Commission Website.

Essentially you cannot enter South Africa on your British Passport:

    A major citizen who-

enters the Republic or departs from the Republic making use of the passport of another country; or

while in the Republic, makes use of his or her citizenship or nationality of another country in order to gain an advantage or avoid a responsibility or duty,

is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding 12 months”.

From section 26B you will notice that it will henceforth be an offence for a major South African citizen to enter the Republic or to depart there from making use of the passport of another country. In other words making use of a passport other than a South African passport.

Furthermore, it will also be an offence for such a citizen, while in the Republic, to use his or her foreign citizenship or nationality to gain an advantage or to avoid a responsibility or duty.

In essence, the Amendment provides that a South African dual citizen can use his or her foreign passport (citizenship/nationality) freely outside South Africa, but in South Africa, may not use his or her foreign nationality or citizenship to gain an advantage or to avoid a responsibility or duty which he or she, as a South African citizen, would otherwise not have been entitled or subject to.

  5. That's right.

  6. Why would you get arrested.  Most white Saffers are getting ancestral visas and citizenship so they can be Duel.  Emergency passport in SA would take 3 days so if the embassy have to send away, it'll probably take 5days... that is if it doesn't get lost.

Having been a previous citizen they can't do anything to you, you're in all your right to return to SA.

  7. I'm not sure if the same applies to you...but Im an Australian perm resident with a SA passport...my daughter on the other hand has an Aussie p/port and a SA one...but when I booked to travel to SA I was told that if she left Aus on an SA passport then she would need a visa to re enter..however because she's an Aussie citizen the Aus govt. does not issue visas to citizens...So we had to use to the Aussie p/port to get her into SA and then back home to Aus...when we entered SA we were issued with a 3 month visitor's permit..

I know it's a bit confusing...but I'm just wondering what the UK rules are on re entry into the UK with a SA passport....

  8. I think you should log in to South African home affairs website and get more information there.  If you need to get in SA with your SA passport then you have to renew it.  If you are using your british passport then you saty in SA will be limited (you have to leave before your visa expires). Get the right information from the embassy or home affairs.  Good luck.
