  1. How lucky you are !!!

Don't worry about the climate, do no bring pullover, do not bring food but bring money because renting an apartment costs a lot in south east of france.

I love Nice wich is a big town, I like Cannes witch is like beverly hills, Marseille is really close to paris because of rapid train ....

  2. perhaps you should visit before you relocate and decide on yourself what area you like...

  3. I personally love living close to Toulouse. It's 2 hrs away from Spain and 2 hrs away from the Mediterranean , it's close to the Pyrenees for skiing and the weather is good.

  4. Max seems to me you are of free spirit... all the advice above is great for specifics.. But only you know the right place for you.. go and find your place. use the above list as reference. Personally speaking my favorite places are not on the maps.

  5. Provence is also nice. There are some great tiny villages with beautiful sites. Not exactly on the Med., but certainly near!  Check the tiny villages around Avignon (Roussillon, Gordes, St. Saturin Les Apts)

  6. The South of France has a Med coastline stretching from Italy to Spain.

The Cote d'Azur is a busy, heavily populated area. The coast gets quieter (and cheaper) as you move West.

Languedoc has small towns and sandy beaches.

Montpellier has been voted the most desirable city to live in France.

  7. languedoc wd be a good choice :

    - montpellier is the greatest town  in the area.

    - perpignan and nîmes are other good little cities.

  8. I am from a town called Digne-les-Bains, it's in Provence, It's a small town, in winter it is very cold and you can drive an hour or less to get some nice places to ski, in summer it's very hot and all year long people come from far away for the thermal water (Bains means bath). It is very peaceful, that's actually why i left it (I'm 20) it's a great place for retirement or people that don't like big towns.

PS: you can still find everything you need there, all shops, supermarket etc...
