  1. you should be more specific. What south are you talking about? south USA? or south America.


  2. Many of the Southern states were settle by the French immigrants that were run out of Nova Scotia, they were not welcome in the states and, kept heading South, they settled Louisiana and these states to become the Creoles.

          The Scottish immigrants were also not welcome in the States and wandered into the hills of Appalachia becoming, the mountain people.

Jamestown, the first Southern colony, was settled by John Smith and a group of followers, who were seeking economic prosperity, unlike the first settlers on the North, who were seeking religious freedom. The warm climate of the South was the incentive Southerners had to bring slaves from Africa.
