The 47-year-old tactician has expressed confidence ahead of his side’s clash against Mark Hughes’ men, and has stressed that the upcoming game’s result will not cost any of the two their jobs.
Southampton head coach, Nigel Adkins, has dismissed talks of sacking ahead of his side’s upcoming league encounter against Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 at Loftus Road on Saturday, November 17.
The Saints earned promotion to English Premier League after finishing second in the Npower Championship standings at the end of the 2011/12 season. However, the newly promoted outfit have thus far failed to impress in the English top flight. Occupying the
19th spot on the league table, the Saints have been struggling to achieve good results consistently.
Meanwhile, QPR have also been struggling to compete in the highest echelons of English football. Reports in English media indicate that the Saints boss along with the White City head coach, Mark Hughes, could be on the receiving end of sacking if any of
the two failed to bag all three points in their side’s upcoming fixture.
However, Adkins has mooted all speculations over his and QPR boss’ future, and has expressed confidence that both of them will be able to remain in charge of their respective clubs.
“I'm pretty sure come Monday that both managers will still be in situ. I think there are two good managers and two good football clubs. The media will build it up that way because they have just highlighted two teams at the wrong end of the division”, the
47-year-old was quoted as saying to reporters.
The English trainer, who took over the managerial seat at St Mary’s Stadium in the 2010/11 season, went on to reveal that his side is fully focused on securing a good result in the upcoming game, while admitting that competing in the English top flight is
not an easy task.
“It's just the next game in the journey that we're on. Every game that you look at has three points up for grabs. That's what we've got to go and do. It's a tough league that we're in, we're well aware of that, but one we love being in and one we expect
to be in for many, many years to come”, Adkins concluded.
