After their bowlers restricted the Matabeleland Tuskers to a low total, Tendai Chisoro led the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 Domestic Twenty20 Competition match, played at the Masvingo Sports Club on October
14.
The Rocks won the toss and chose to field first, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TN-Garwe-c2695 (4-0-22-2) and Cuthbert Musoko (4-0-20-2) chipped in with supporting performances.
The Tuskers’ batsmen, in response, collapsed completely, and with the exception of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-Richard-Ervine-c51733 (49), none of the batsmen managed to reach double figures. The two batsmen tried to get the innings to take off by setting up a 55-run stand
for the second wicket, but their solitary efforts were unsupported by any of the remaining batsmen.
Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bradley-Staddon-c48314 contributed 8.
With their batsmen helpless in the face of the opposition’s bowling attack, the Tuskers posted a final total of 119 by the end of 20 overs.
In response, the Rocks kicked off their innings with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bothwell-Chapungu-c1180 (22), both of whom managed small contributions before Kaia fell prey to Meth in the second over, followed in the 6th over by wicketkeeper batsman Alester
Maregwede (6), who was sent packing by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CB-Mpofu-c1219.
Chapungu was trapped lbw by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tendai-Chisoro-c2655 contributed an unbeaten score of 30, however, and guided the team to victory. He set up a 30-run fourth-wicket stand with Peter Burgoyne
(36), and following the latter’s dismissal via run out in the 16th over, proceeded to form largely one-sided partnerships with Garwe (1) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samuel-Mwakayeni-c88414 (1).
Garwe was bowled by Chari, while Mwakayeni was run out by Querl. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tawanda-Mupariwa-c92913 (2*) teamed up with Chisoro for an unbeaten 19-run stand which got the Rocks up to 122 in the nick of time, with 4 wickets and zero deliveries remaining.
