  1. perhaps because a southpaw is not as common as an orthodox

  2. It's simple... the reach will be longer if you're a southpaw...

  3. Lack of knowledge and experience can often be one's greatest weakness.

Some Orthadox fighters just can't adjust to Southpaw fighters.   Years ago there were no Southpaw fighters because if you stepped into a gym with that style you were quckly converted.

I was a Southpaw.  My friend Steve could Kick everybody's @ss but some who should have beaten me couldnt because they had it stuck in their heads that, if I could fight Steve so well,  I must be good.   The truth is that Stv was Lightyears ahead of me.  His only weakness was Southpaws.  No one ever picked up on that.

Some old trainers still convert their fighters but that's changing now.   The fact is that Southpaws were a pain the @ss if you never faced one.

It could work the other way as well.  Sometimes, a Southpaw's greatest weakness is another Southpaw.  He's so used to facing Orthadox, and the fact that they often find his style difficult.  Once he faces someone who is not at a disadvantage he falls apart.
