Can anyone tell me good places to eat/drink/hangout in this area of downtown Sacramento California? The more detail the better, and thanks for all answers.

  1. You live very close to a local restaurant/bar known as

JAMIE'S BAR & GRILL (it's on Broadway, across the street from the television studio).  It looks like a dive on the outside, but they have the BEST primerib sandwich I've ever had.  They also have excellent BBQ and everything else on their menu.  This is also a local hangout for politicians and the folks from the studio across the street)

There are many others, however these are the ones that I am able to remember off the top of my head (I use to live in Mid town Sacto and loved going to these places).

You're also close to these locations, and they're all in Downtown/Midtown Sacto:

FREEPORT BAKERY on Freeport Ave. (one of the best bakeries and they offer some great food too)

ERNESTO MEXICAN FOOD (great Mex. food)

MONKEY BAR (Great Bar & hang out)

    BERNARDO'S (good food, reasonable prices)

33rd STREET BISTRO (or may be called BISTRO 33)

    (on 33rd Street)

Frank Fat's Chinese Restaurant (little pricey but great food)

    806 L St Sacramento, CA

CENTRO COCINA RESTAURANT, 2730 J Street

Sacramento, CA 95816 (Excellent and trendy Mexican Cuisine, inexpensive!!!)

    Mary's Kitchen & BBQ 1216 20th St Sacramento, CA 95814

    (916) 442-3469

(immediately next to Mary's BBQ is a really great and inexpensive/trendy restaurant....forgot the name..food is great!....use to go there alot too)

There are some really good and authentic Chinese restaurants along Broadway Blvd. in Downtown Sacto.

Also check out the Riverfront area (off of Front Street, near the river and the mall).  Great places to check out (bar's and restaurants..kind of a touristy area too)

Great old fashion ice cream parlor:

GUNTHER'S ICE CREAM on Franklin (south of Broadway)

These locations are a short distance & south of downtown, (not the safest of neighborhoods), however the best pizza and chicken tacos:

CABALLO BLANCO (Fruitridge & Franklin Blvd)

    (chicken tacos are the best)

ROMAS PIZZERIA  (The best pizza & great lasagna..family owned and operated)

    5743 Franklin Blvd,

    Sacramento, CA 95824

For late nite desserts, consider RICK'S DESSERT DINER (cakes by the slice, great late night dessert hang out)

If you love German sausages, this is a family opr. business that has the best sausages and breakfast sausages (it's not a restaurant):

    Morant's Old Fashioned Sausage

    5001 Franklin Blvd

    Sacramento, CA 95820

    (916) 731-4377

Hope this info. helps you out!

    You've gotta try out JAMIE'S it's excellent!
