Question:

Southwest Airlines flight reservation?

I just checked in online, 24 hours before my flight tomorrow. But I'm staying at a friend's house and I can't print anything from her computer, does this mean my boarding group and position will the last ones if I get my pass at the airport tomorrow? Or does the position and boarding group it says I have online stay with me when I print it out at the airport tomorrow?

  1. Your position/group stays with you. When you arrive at Southwest check-in kiosk, swipe your credit card, and instead of selecting "print boarding pass,"  select "re-print boarding pass."

  2. EDIT: I should mention that if you bought a Business Select fare, you automatically get the "A" boarding group, regardless of when you checked in.

Yan is incorrect, your boarding group & number is based on WHEN YOU CHECKIN FOR YOUR FLIGHT, not when you BOOKED the flight.

I've flown SWA many times, and I've been told by Southwest checkin staff that once you've been assigned a letter and a number, your boarding group letter & number IS PERMANENT, regardless of where you checked in and whether you printed your boarding pass online or not. You'll just have to go use a kiosk or go to the checkin counter to get your boarding pass.

    Hope this helps!

  3. When you checked in online, you are checked in for that group and position unless you make a change in your reservation, which would negate it. Just go to a kiosk or a customer service agent and get a reprint, it will have all the same information as your internet checkin.

You don't have to have a printer to check in, but the one thing you want to make sure you DON'T do is have someone FAX a boarding pass to you, for a couple of reasons. Many airports have internet access or office stations inside security, so faxing a boarding pass bypasses the ID check at TSA checkpoint. Also, most faxes don't print well enough for the barcodes to scan, which is just really annoying :)

  4. I believe the position of your ticket is base on the time you book online. My roommate booked her ticket very late and her boarding time was almost the last few people. I believe that has to do with when you book your ticket.
