Southwest Florida - are you putting up hurricane shutters yet?

My parents are dragging their feet because they just went out and saw how much plywood has to be put up for a hurricane...it looks too stressful for them. I'm finding it kind of stupid because the hurricane is coming on Tuesday and my neighbor is already putting his shutters up. I tried to drag my mom out to help me put up SOME shutters but she just looked depressed and won't stop talking about how much we have to do. Dad says wait until tomorrow.

SW Florida... are you putting your shutters up yet? We've got TONS of plywood to stick up and it's not going to be a 1 hour job.... should we go ahead and start?

  1. no, not this time.  storm track has moved west, and it's only a cat 1.

(added Monday AM: oops, maybe not.  Monday PM: it's back to a tropical storm.  not a problem)

(added Tuesday  - wasn't even a hurricane.  piece of cake, and no need for shutters.  saved myself the effort.)

  3. i would better safe then sorry or you might have a flooded house
