  1. Southwest has free seating.

But you can get on the southwest website and reserve a boarding pass for section A which means boarding first.

  2. I heard Southwest thought about doing assigned seating but most if not all flights passengers not assigned seating.

  3. No assigned seats on southwest but southwest does let you check in online 24 hours before your flight. I did this last week and on all flights (3 including lay over) I was number 30 or less to board. Also, they do board family and children after the first 60 so sitting together should not be a problem.

  4. Just tell them you will need to sit together get there a little early, and you will be fine.

  5. Seats are not assigned.   However families with young children are usually seated third; preboard clients (those with handicaps) then group "A"; Finally Families.  After Families; groups "B" and "C" respectfully will be seated.

In most SW flights I have not seen 99.99% of the passengers agreeable to allow families to sit together.  I Flew SW June 1 and Families always seemed to wind up together without problem.

  6. i dont think there are assigned seats. You can probably get priority boarding cuz you are traveling with small children. Last time when i was on Southwest, the parents with small children were among the firsts to board the plane.
