Brazilian midfielder Souza has been farmed out to Gremio by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 for the remainder of the season.
The 23-year-old was signed from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vasco-da-Gama-c40872 in 2010 but has failed to gather much playing time at Estadio do Dragao since then. Primarily playing as a defensive midfielder he was scarcely utilized by Andre Villas-Boas during the quadruple winning campaign
and even under http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitor-c36281 Pereira he did not rise up the pecking order.
Fredy Guarin, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Belluschi-c13628 and Joao Moutinho were all preferred ahead of Souza and the Selecao International has made only 11 appearances so far this campaign.
With Guarin and Belluschi going to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 on loan, it was thought that the Brazilian would finally be given the chance to make an impact the helm but that has not been the case, as the Portistas signed former skipper Lucho Gonzalez from Marseille.
The Argentine fitted back seamlessly into the team and has made the midfield position his own. This led to the club farming out Souza on loan to Gremio, where he will ply his trade till the end of the season.
After arriving back in his homeland, the player made a statement and revealed that he had many good things about the Tricolor and that former Porto midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-Alberto-c8355 had urged him to sign for the club.
"I heard about the club from the Guild. My friends just said good things. I know that the team has good players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leo-c22011 Gago, but it was Carlos Alberto who recommended me to the club. I had very good references from him."
Souza also commented that he would try his best to become an integral part of the side, as he was looking to earn a berth in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mano-c23341 Menezes’ Olympic squad.
The Brazilian International will now undergo medical tests in order to determine his fitness levels and after successful completion will sign the contract. Although he is going to be at the club till June, it remains to be seen whether FC Porto call him
back given that Lucho Gonzalez has returned.
El Comandante is one of the best players in his position and ousting from the starting lineup is an ardent task, even for Souza.
