Soy milk vs. regular milk...

so im thinking of switching from drinking soy milk instead of regular milk...what brand is good? and what flavor? also, how much calcium is in soy milk? more or less than regular milk?

  1. Calcium: soy milk has the same as cow's milk.  The soy milk producers do that on purpose.

    Brands:  I've had Edensoy and Silk (which are both good), but I even had a store brand soy milk that tasted really good, so I don't see how you can go wrong.

    Flavors:  There are plain, vanilla, chocolate and even some limited edition flavors.  Vanilla is good to drink by itself.  Plain is better for eating over cereal.  Chocolate and the limited ed. flavors are good, but they usually have more sugar in them.


  2. i love 8th Continent. they come in original, vanilla, chocolate. they also make light versions of them.

    Silk is also very good, they have more options. if you want extra calcium they make Silk Plus for Bone Health..it provides 40% of the recommended daily value of calcium in just one cup; that’s 30% more than dairy milk. they make light versions too. other than vanilla, original, chocolate, they make an unsweetened one, a 'very' vanilla one, chai, coffee, mocha, spice and eggnog flavors.

    a cup of whole milk has about 28% calcium

    a cup of original 8th continent soy milk has about 30% calcium

    a cup of silk original soy milk has about 30% calcium

    not much of a difference in the calcium pretty much just flavor

  3. soymilk.. silk..  try all their flavors.

    cow's milk... tastes like chemicals,  makes most folks fat, sick and has too much cholesterol  and triglycerides in it.     it also is the culprit of ulcers, gerd and most indigestion.

    silk makes wonderful soymilk.   i'm happy to have come aquaintance with it.

    never will you again go to cow's  milk,  once you grow to enjoy soymilk.

    and um.. since when does cow's milk  have calcium?

    you will find on this list.. many fruits, veggies that beat out milk in the calcium catagory along with protein,  potassium.. many other minerals.

    the dairy people lied,    most dairy is a cholesterol giant rather than a calcium giant.

    milk has 450  (in general)  mg of cholesterol    (the label isn't telling you everything.. along with eggs which have 200 mg in cholesterol and less than 5mg of protein.. milk has less than 3mg of protein.

    meat has less than 6 mg of protein while..

    avocados are a calcium giant and have over 1000 mg of potassium and 50 mg of protein.

    now you may be seeing some truth here.  

    most soymilks are protein giants.   not  all soymilks (of course)  are created equal.  like with most things,  pick, choose and find what you like and stick with it.

    my fav. silk soymilks are the regular and chocolate.

    but they have many other flavors,  including a coffee based flavor now.

  4. i loveee vanilla silk soy. i wont drink anything else. i hate cow milk.
