Well, when are you environmentalists going to insist that your local, state, and federal government lead by example and run their fleet vehicles on alternative fuels? Natural gas, fuel cell, electric ext.? I’m not talking about a minimal insignificant number of vehicles. I mean the whole d**n gambit d**n it!

  1. There already are some out there. I bought 2 of them that were former fleet vehicles that run only on natural gas, and they're awesome! Wish there were lots more. So, what are YOU driving?

  2. I certainly don't. You made a good point there- they're all hypocrites.

  3. I agree with you to some extent.  It's easy to say that all types of government should instantly switch over to alternative but its not that realistic.

I work for a local government in Florida and like the rest of the U.S. we are in difficult economic times.  We can't just sell all of our trucks that no one will buy for a good price, and purchase alternative fuel vehicles.

I do agree many of the gas guzzling trucks we have are not needed.  Maybe a good, feasable start would be to trade in or buy low fuel vehicles or hybrids to replace these trucks.

  4. Actually, there are many people and organizations devoted to this.  Personally, I have worked with many school bus fleet owners, and have worked with an organization that has successfully switched several Tennessee fleets to alternative fuels.  We are currently working with our local government to have every city-owned vehicle alternatively fueled, but the politicians do not see green like we do - we see a clean earth, they see dollar signs.  When fuels like biodiesel are more available and convenient, we will see many more fleets switch over, but until then, well... I guess we'll have to keep pushing it.

  5. There are many businesses out there that our making a huge effort to protect our environment.  However there are many others that continue to waste energy, pollute and damage the Earth through their destructive business habits.
