I am using Spa Poppits at the moment but am finding the upkeep of my spa very expensive using this product. I am considering changing to Bromine Tablets hoping this will be cheaper. Is there anything I should know about using or changing to Bromine for my spa?

  1. Bromine will work out cheaper. Until you get used to using it in your spa, you will need to test the water regularly and decide what a good number of tablets is to keep in your float. Bromine (tabs) are acidic so the regular addition pH buffer (bicarb soda) is essential (tablespoon at a time).

You will probably need to drain the spa and start over (check with the poppit people).

And importantly keep in perspective how much you are spending on chems trying to keep 1000L (aprox $1.50 worth) of dirty bath water clean.

If it smells, clouds up or leaves scum on the side of the spa it time to change it, no amount of chemicals will get rid of the body fats and salts that build up.
