Question:

Space Landfill?

After seeing the movie Wall-e, I started to think about the trash piling up. Well, I have a thought. What if we used space to throw our trash into? I mean, it would just float away, and it wouldn't pollute another planet, because it would just burn up in its atmosphere. I know it would take tons of fuel and alot of rockets, but when answering my question, don't keep the money and rocket size(s) in mind. Could it do any harm to space?

  1. Orbital debris is a very serious problem. A space pollution problem. Every empty rocket booster and dead satellite and loose s***w and fleck of paint in orbit is moving faster than a bullet from a high powered rifle. And it poses a serious hazard to satellites. So NASA and other space agencies have very strict rules about dumping stuff in space.

But if you could crash it into the Moon, that would probably be OK.

But of course the real reason we don't do it is the one to told us to ignore.

  2. Well, what about the fuel we would burn to get up there? that would s***w us up to fix another promblem. and not all planets have atmospheres. imagine if there was life somewhere else and they traced our trash back to us. i do not think they would be too happy.

  3. we have to get away from the trow away mentality and get int using what we got before what we got is all gone!!
