  1. There is a pretty good chance it dosn't exist or it has been deleted NASA is very secretive about a lot of its work.

  2. Try this link.

    http://www.download.com/Astronomy-Stuff/...

  3. Yep, its the SETI project

    Its called grid computing

There are actually other more useful grid computing project, if you are interested.

I'm running this Folding@ Home, which simulates protein, and the results are expected to be use in studies about disease such as Alzheimer and perhaps one day, find a cure for it

Anyway, if you wants to run something on your PC, search for grid computing, wikipedia should have info on all curent active projects that you can participate in

  4. NASA never had such a project, but there had been Einstein@Home and SETI@Home, which do that. They are now part of the BOINC framework.

  5. NASA is not very secretive at all.

But you're probably thinking of SETI@Home, which is not a NASA project.  You don't get naming rights to anything it discovers, however.

  6. Basically the whole thing is the saying "two heads are better than one" applied to computers.....LOTS and LOTS of computers.  It will take a million computers less time to crunch a set of numbers than it would one--even a cray III or the like-- to crunch the same set of numbers.   Go to the BOINC site mentioned by another person you can pick and choose.  I have been running the SETI@home screensaver for over a decade now.  It's amazing the difference between my first 386 machine and this dual core processor.  I STILL have it running on my old 386 machine too.
