  1. The main problem is that nobody really has one.

  2. The biggest challenges these programs face is funding and that is because a lot of politicians beleive that space exploration will not improve the quality of life of people on earth.  Politicians are not thinking long term.  Just like the dilema with global warming.  Instead of spending tax dollars on green energy research, that money is being spent on offshore drilling and the war on Iraq.  Some government officials just don't see the need for further space exploration.

  3. Publicly funded space programs suffer chronically from inconsistent funding and leadership because of turnover in government oversight.

The aerospace industry in the U.S. faces its greatest commercial challenge from publicly subdized competitors in the world market.

  4. a)   food in space,  you have to bring it all

    b)   fuel, you cant refuel in space

    c)   it takes a TON of energy to leave Earths surface and get to orbit.

  5. one major problem they have is overcoming openminded freethinkers that see through the lunar hoax that so many people have fallen for

  6. Funding and political vision.

It takes years of investment and work to get anything done with space research. But political leaders do not see beyond their next re-election deadline.

Anything technical, we can deal with. Political, that is another thing...
