I AM APPLYING FOR A JOB IN BRITISH PETROLEUM AND I POSTED A QUESTION CONCERNING HOW THEIR INTERVIEW IS IN BP. SOMEONE RESPONDED THAT THERE IS WORLDWIDE FREEZE ON NEW HIRE IN BP. MY QUESTION IS WHAT DOES " WORLWIDE FREEZE" MEANS IN THIS RESPECT.

  1. Worldwide freeze means just that: They are not hiring currently. You can still apply, create a profile and upload your resume etc. If you are applying thru a college campus (if they are recruiting there) your chances would be better (I think). My response was not meant to dissuade you from applying but I saw a news broadcast where one of the CEO's mentioned they are, in fact, not hiring but also laying off people worldwide. Goodluck.

  2. Winter?

    An Ice Age?

Need more context to have a better idea what you're asking.

  3. "Worldwide freeze", means that BP is not hiring any new employees at any of their locations around the world.

Given that rising oil prices means lower risk to explore and to produce from marginal wells, I doubt this freeze will last for very long.
