I think I have figured out how to make enough spaghetti. Will 6 lbs of noodles be enough? Too much? And can I cook 6 lbs of noodles all at once, in a really big pot?

  1. Try cooking about 2 pounds at a time, so as to not burn the pasta or over cook it. Depending on how big you are going to make the portions Ide say go with about 7 and a half pounds. make sure you get a good amount of sauce. Making your own is great but since you are making it for that many people buy about 5 things of sauyce and youll be good

  2. 1-lb. boxes of pasta say that they are 8 servings, but I don't believe that!  I'd say it's closer to 4-6 servings.  ... but, assuming you're having salad, garlic bread too, 6 lbs. should be enough (especially if it's a thicker meat sauce)

  3. For all adults, 6 pounds should do...adults and kids, 5 is enough, with a meat sauce, etc.  Cook no more that 2 to 3 pounds in any pot...lots of salted water!

  4. Wow, that is a lot of people. Have you ever considered doing a "pasta bake"? This way, you get to to cook the pasta in separate batches as you need, and then stir through the sauce and then top with cheese and bake in the oven on about180 for 15 mins. This can be done a day ahead and then just heated in the oven when needed. Buy turkish bread and top with olive oil, some garlic, tomatoes, red onion ,bocconcini and fresh basil and grill and this will be the stand-out feature entree. Add a drop of nice wine, a smile, and you will pull off a great dinner party.

  5. Yeah I think it can be possible.

  6. 6 pounds is not enough for 35 people unless pasta is only one of several courses.  Rule of thumb, each person will eat about 1/3 - 1/2 pound of cooked pasta.  Do not attempt to cook 17 pounds of pasta in one batch.
