  1. Usually 1.3 metres but FTA can be obtained with a 0.70m dish.

  2. Some areas have trouble receiving sky and you may need a larger dish.  A community aerial won't work.  mesh tv is available, the channels are limited and not available in every area and no sky box is needed.

You can have Spanish digital and the dish and box are free.  Most of their shows are UK or US shows and are available in English, they have a lot of sport and films.

  3. yes we has loads of problems trying to get english tv in spain

  4. Yes, you will need the dish, and the biggest you can get if you want to receive BBC,ITV etc too. You don't have to bring it with you as they are available from Brit t.v people here,  but it can be costly.

If you have a community aerial it can be limited, my sister used to live South of Alicante and the urbanisation had a comm.dish, but as the community was mixed Scandinavian,Brits,Germans etc alot of the programmes were with English subtitles!!

If oyu can have your own dish, card and digibox, pay Sky monthly as you would at home then that is better as you would be getting the channels you want to see.!

  5. Sky is a satellite service, so you need a dish. A shared dish might work if it's pointed in the right direction. However, Sky is specifically aimed at the UK and Irish Republic. Outside those countries you can probably only receive a selected number of channels. Also, you'd need a much larger dish, perhaps 2m diameter rather than the usual 60cm diameter.

  6. depending on where in Spain you're talking some blocks put a communal dish in where you just plug your sky box in as it's aready into your apt, others you will have to provide your own box and dish although you will need to speak to the president of your community as if you go ahead and just install one you will be asked to remove it with the possibillity of a small fine

  7. There are 100's of firms now installing Sky boxes and free view boxes all over the costas now.

I was cut off from Sky, they found out I was watching from "abroad" now I only get free view channels, how they found out I will never know, at first they accussed me of owing them money, when now in fact they owe me!

I told them I would act as a secret policewoman for them finding all hotel/bars/private houses/apts. etc., those so called watching from "abroad", I said I would be over 100 years old before I had even got off my urbanisation with the amount of dishes there are................

wish they would make it "legal" and be done with it!!
