Spain Immigration?

Question

I'm on a tourist visa in Spain and I'm from Southeast Asia. I like it a lot here in Spain. I have a 1st cousin living here who is a Spanish citizen. How can I go about in prolonging my stay here and how long will immigration give me? Will my cousin be able to help me since he has a residencia card?

A friend of mine was granted a 180 day visa by presenting a proof of residence from his own country and by proving that he could support himself there without a getting a job  (show them some cash or plastic) it took 15.000 USD to satisfy them. He also had a distant relative there who vouched for him.
