Spain; Mallorca; Valldemossa?

Are there any universities in Valldemossa or NEAR Valldemossa?? Let's say the nearest one.

I just returned from a trip to Valldemossa and of course fell in love with that place and would like to live there in my dreams at least... BUT I could not see there anything else than local houses and cafes plus restaurantes. Yes there was a monastery and such museums, with Chopin memories...but are there any PUBLIC buildings like library, working church, university, which I already mentioned, schools etc. ??

How do people live there? Just by working in these cafes, restaurantes and museums? Or do they have to travel to and from Palma every day for their education and salaries??

There is nothing in Valdemosa. There are churches and a primary school, if I remember correctly.

Many houses are weekend houses. The only industry is tourism.

You missed the university. It was on the right as you drove back to Palma.

It is not a good university and is full of loony mallorcan nationalists who believe that the Mallorcan language is not Catalan.

There are some good language schools in Palma but the nearest real university is the University of Barcelona, which  is one of the best in the Spanish speaking world.
