Spain Open 2012: Brice Leverdez tames Kasper Dinesen in Men’s Singles quarter-final – Badminton news
France’s talented shuttler Brice Leverdez continued his gutsy performance as he surged into Men’s Singles semi-final after taming Denmark’s Kasper Dinesen at Spanish Open 2012 in Spain, on Saturday, May 19.
Leverdez, who is World Number 37 and third seed in Men’s Singles draw of the event, put entertained the local fans by playing with remarkable control and managed to overpower his lower ranked Danish rival in a convincing fashion.
The higher ranked French shuttler was impressive in his paling strategy as he did not face even a slight problem in the court and registered a comprehensive victory over his challenger in just 30 minutes.
On the other hand, Dinesen tried to show his brilliance but failed to cope up with the elevated skills of his rival and eventually lost the battle in straight games without creating any trouble for his higher ranked French opponent.
In the first set, Leverdez could not have expected such a wonderful start as he played with precision and took a sensational lead at the early stage.
He was in his prime form while playing against Dinesen and remained dominating on the score board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Dinesen tried to stop the aggressive advancement of his higher ranked rival but failed to tackle the pace of rallies.
In the meanwhile, Leverdez continued his killing run without slowing down his speed and wrapped up the first set with a stunning 21-11 margin on the score board.
In the following set, Dinesen showed a few glimpses of his brilliance but failed to maintain his elevated play as his French rival took over the control and started to dictate the pace.
Leverdez played with impressive power in his shots and remained successful in setting up a marvellous lead until the break.
After the interval, the third seeded French player remained on track and remained successful in maintaining his gap on the board.
The in-form Leverdez continued playing flawless game and bagged the set with a one-sided 21-13 score on the board.
Leverdez registered as easy win over Dinesen by beating him in straight games with a stunning difference of 21-11 and 21-13.
