Spain added to their dominance from the first ten minutes of their Under 21 European Championships semi final encounter against Belarus throughout the rest of the first half by pressurizing their opponents into a mistake by pressing
high up the field. This strategy worked well for the Spanish U-21 contingent as they regained possession of the ball by closing down the vacant spaces in the midfield region.
In the 12th minute of the encounter, Didac carried the ball out of the midfield area and then tried to play in Muniain near the opposition’s penalty area. The central defender’s idea was right but unfortunately the execution
lacked perfection as the ball had too much pace on it which allowed Belarus’ goalkeeper Gutor to come out of his six yard box to claim the ball.

it allowed Gutor to once again come out and command his penalty area by clearing away the danger. In the 17th minute, Nekhaychik went into the referee’s book after bringing Muniain to the ground near the half way line.

In the 25th minute, Ander played the ball out wide to Montoya. The Barcelona full back whipped the ball towards Muniain inside the Belarus penalty area. However Veretio headed the ball away but the centre back headed

In the 38th minute disaster struck for Spain when Belarus went into the lead. Sivakov took a throw-in for Belarus which was directed straight towards Andrey Varankov. Varankov executed a superb bicycle kick and thumped
