Why is the guitar associated mostly with Spain?

  1. There is a difference between the classic guitar and the spanish guitar, this last one is a little bit smaller.

    Since this guitar is only played in here Spain, and so many famous guitar players are from Spain also, such us: Luís de Milán, Gaspar Sanz, Andrés Segovia, Paco de Lucía...

    There is also a very traditional spanish music that consists in just a guitar and a singer called "cante hondo"

    I guess all this matters make Spain get associated with the guitar.

  2. Because the guitar is so closely associated with flamenco, which is the consummate Spanish music/dance form, and so many great guitarists come out of Spain.

    Examples: Andrés Segovia, Julian Bream, oh, can´t think of any others off the top of my head, but there are many.  

    Also, I do believe the guitar, as we know it, was invented in Spain.  

    Lots of great guitar makers there, too.
