The Bayern Munich striker believes that in order to realise their dream of lifting the Euro 2012, Germany have to beat Spain.

Joachim Low’s side have been impressive in their opening fixtures despite being drawn into a group dubbed as the ‘Group of Death’ which included the likes of Netherlands, Portugal and Denmark.
Die Mannschaft managed to beat Portugal and Netherlands in their opening two fixtures, through three Mario Gomez goals. Germany made easy work of the Dutch as they cruised to a 2-0 lead in the first and convincingly defeated their
bitter rivals.
Despite having one foot in the quarter finals, the DFB eleven’s striker believes his side have achieved nothing as yet; there is still a long way to go.
"We have won two games but we have not reached anything," he is quoted as saying in an interview.
Although Germany have displayed sensational form by beating Netherlands and Portugal, Mario believes his side have a major obstacle between them and their dream of winning the 2012 European Championship.
Joachim Low’s men have been defeated by Spain in the Final of the 2008 European Championship and the semi-final of the 2010 World Cup. So they will have to do all they can to defeat their bogey team.
This time around the Germans will be wary of the technical prowess possessed by the Spaniards. The Bayern Munich striker admits that Die Nationalelf camp has been closely monitoring Spain’s progress in order to halt them from marching
towards yet another European title.
“And we have been following the other games very closely. For example, Spain yesterday [against Ireland]. Our aim must be to defeat them," he further added.
Before they can think of beating Spain, Die Mannschaft have to take points off Denmark in order to seal their qualification for the next round. Spain however, have not been at their best, Vicente Del Bosque’s side are missing their
all time top scorer David Villa and their defensive enforcer Carles Puyol.
Villa’s replacement Torres had been in poor scoring form prior to the game against Ireland. Following his goal scoring exploits against Giovanni Trappatoni’s men the striker must be feeling like his former self and will aim to
continue this goal scoring streak.
