Spain over powers Tunisia 3-0: FIVB Volleyball Men´s Junior World Championship match
The Caio Martins Gymnasium in Niteroi, Brazil saw a FIVB Volleyball Men´s Junior World Championship match take place on opening day between Spain and Tunisia on August 1st. What followed was a one sided affair in which the Spanish side turned out to be victorious
by winning three in a row move past their opponents.
The Tunisians did not show much competition in the opening set of the match which turned out to be an easy win for the Spanish. The second set saw the Tunisians struggle a bit for a win but Spain was able to keep dominance with themselves. The third set
followed the same script and the match ended in a Russian win at 25-14, 25-18 and 25-17.
The Spanish coach, Francisco Hervas, made the following comments at the press conference after the match: “We played very well, the players are very focused. But they are young, and were very anxious to play this championship. First games are always more
difficult.”
On the other hand, the Tunisian coach, Mohammed Mounir Gara, expressed himself by giving the following statements: “I know we didn’t play well, because we didn’t have much time to get ready for the competition. I saw the other game from our group, and to
me, Spain is the best team on it. It’s a very strong competition, and my players couldn’t practice much, as they were in school time. But I promise we will try to get better."
The player who was able to tally the most points among both the teams was the Spaniard Jorge Almansa who scored 15 points. On the Tunisian side, Racem Siala was the top scorer as he registered a total of 10 points for his team.
The opening set of the game witnessed some challenge provided to the Spanish by the Tunisians but the fight was short lived as Spain was successful in getting the lead. Once the Tunisians gave away the advantage they could not get it back as the Spanish
team marched on towards a first set win at 25-14 that did not take more than 20 minutes to reach its end.
The Tunisian side fell to making errors in the second set of the game and the Spanish took advantage of this by taking the lead and extending it. Other than that, the blocking of the Spanish stopped the Tunisians from making any head way in the scoring department.
Therefore, it was only a matter of time before the Spanish had bagged the second set at 25-18.
The third set unfolded in much the same way as its predecessor with the Spanish moving ahead with a comfortable lead and the Tunisians tagging behind. The Spanish side eventually ended the third set at 25-17.
