  1. There is an old saying describing the weather in Madrid: "Nueve meses de invierno, tres meses de infierno (nine months of winter, three months of h**l).

    -----------------------------

The region of Madrid has a temperate Continental Mediterranean climate with cold winters with temperatures that sometimes drop below freezing. There are about two to three snowfalls each year. Summer tends to be hot with temperatures that consistently surpass (86 °F) in July and that can often reach (100 °F). Due to Madrid's high altitude and dry climate, nightly temperatures tend to be cooler, leading to a lower average in the summer months.

Precipitation levels are low, but precipitation can be observed throughout the year. Summer and winter are the driest seasons with most rainfall occurring in autumn and spring.

  3. northwest and north of Spain--> oceanic weather, influenced by Atlantic ocean, it means warm summer and warm, rainy and windy winter.

central Spain--> continental weather, it means extreme temperatures, very cold winter (snowfalls) and very hot summer.

mediterranean coast--> mediterranean weather, influenced by mediterranean sea, the same weather as Italy or Croatia has, for example. Hot summer and warm winter, very few rains, but when it rains, it can be hugely.

South Spain (Andalucia)--> here is a mixture between mediterranean weather and continental weather from central Spain, also hot summer and warm winter, there are some high mountains and snowfalls here. Very few rain.

  4. Caliente.

  5. Sunday Costa del sol,

Started off a bit overcast, but by mid morning the sun was out, its a bit sticky, with a light breeze coming from the sea on the coast.

This morning in the Marina in Benalmadena, it was very pleasant and very busy.

The past 3 nights we have had winds, tomorrow a TV/radio report said it was going to RAIN???!!! we shall see....... it has been reported before, it can be raining in the whole of Spain but not here on the costa.

  6. Very general type of question, Spain is a large place!

OK here is a general answer:-

I have two daughters living in Spain, both near the coast, one almost on the border with Gibralter, one not far from Murcia airport.  They have both been living in those areas for over five years.

They tell me tales about walking on the beach in winter, blazing sun most of the year etc etc.

I have visited both places, in winter and summer!     Summer is very hot, Winter is warm.

The climate all over Spain is far better than UK.

I have been to both places in the winter, I can sit in the sun for about 4 hours a day in winter, (usually outside the local bar)!

Some places I have been to and worked in, have very high temperatures but also very high humidity, I got off the plane in Abu Dhabi, and was sweating within 5 minutes.  Non of that in Spain.

I noticed the winter evenings seemed chilly, but this was only if compared to the winter day.

Generally speaking the weather and climate are great.

Compared to UK they are fantastic!!!!

  7. now it is very hot. in winter it is very mild to cold, ranging from 0 degrees - 20 degree between November - April and from May - October it can range from 20 to 45 degrees (mainly in July and August, they can be unbearable months)

  8. If you're talking about now, it's too d**n hot!!!! Thank God for air conditioning.

  9. Extremely varied.  Mostly considered a Mediterranean climate, but go into the central plains, mountains, semi-arid areas, and it changes.  Northern coast is cooler than the Mediteranean.  Snow in the Center in the Winter...and some of the mountains.

    Varied topography = varied climate.
