The midfield maestro has warned his teammates about complacency ahead of their clash against France in the Euro.
Spain’s Andres Iniesta believes that his side must be at their best in order to book a place in the semi-finals of the European Championship.
The Barca number 8 insists that anything less than the very best can cause La Roja to crash out of the prestigious tournament.
Vicente del Bosque’s men are set to take up the challenge of Les Bleus in the quarter-finals of the Euro 2012. Considering the fact that the two sides are footballing giants across the continent, the fixture is expected to be thoroughly entertaining and
thrilling.
Iniesta has taken out time to make sure his teammates are aware of the threat posed by Laurent Blanc’s men.
The last time the two sides met in a major international competition, it was in the FIFA World Cup 2006 in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. To the dismay of the Reds’ faithful, their side was humbled to a 3-1 victory at the hands of the French side, which would later go on to play
the tournament’s final.
Keeping the past in mind, Andres Iniesta is not willing to put anything to risk as he is of the opinion that anything can happen in the knockout stages of the competition.
La Furia Roja appear stronger than the French side on paper; however, the fact that no side has ever managed to defend their European title before may haunt them.
The Spaniard has emphasized that the quarter-final will be a tough match to call and that Del Bosque’s men will have to be relentless.
While addressing the press, the midfielder quoted:
"It will be a very tough match, because they will want to get possession of the ball as well. They have a lot of quality, especially up front. It's a very dangerous team. We'll have to play hard and be relentless, create chances and capitalise on them. You
need to be very accurate in games like these. That’s what's needed.”
