Spain’s Bribon struggles on Day 3 of 2011 Trofeo Conde de Godó City of Barcelona Trophy
Region of Murcia Trophy winners, Spain’s Bribon didn’t have a convincing Day 3 at the 2011 Trofeo Conde de Godó City of Barcelona Trophy as despite getting off to a good start, they had
to settle for a fourth and sixth place in both races of the day respectively. However, they still managed to claim the second place in the event and they are now challenging leaders Sweden’s RAN for the trophy title.
Though the third day glory was completely stolen by America’s Quantum Racing, Bribon’s performance still brought them up at second place with same points as RAN. Bribon find themselves
in a decent position and if they can get their act together in the following races, they stand a good chance of winning the trophy.
While speaking to the local reporters at the end of Day 3, Bribon skipper-helm Gonzalo Araujo said, “It has been a tough day, we knew it would not be easy. When we entered in the fight,
other’s boats strategy between us has changed. The true is that we have fought as we could. At both races Quantum has reached a favourable position at the start and that has determined a little the races.”
He added, “They have complicated our life with a series of tacks. This has been the general trend. During the second race we had a problem in the windward buoy and that cost a couple of
points, but it is normal to compete in a pointing fight like this one. In the end, we should try to win the regattas we have left.”
