Spain’s Tony Guia takes on XXII at 2011 Murcia Region Trophy in Cartagena: 2011 Audi MedCup Circuit
Spain’s Tony Guia will be taking on XXII Soto 40 class yacht as a helmsman in the 2011 Murcia Region Trophy, which is underway at Cartagena in Spain. The Spanish had a long-term interest competing in Soto 40 class, and he is ready to sail in the event. Guia
is a superb sailor and he has sailed in Cartagena before, which will be a plus point for him.
As Guia has taken on XXII in Region of Murcia Trophy, it will be known as www.cruiser-racer.com – XXII (ESP) and will have Germany’s Sabine Schuemann as its tactician. Meanwhile, Guia and crew are happy to be in Cartagena, as they believe it will be an exciting
regatta for them.
While speaking to local media, Guia said, “We are really happy to be here because we can see that the atmosphere it´s outstanding. You see people you know well and some others that you don´t know personally but that you recognize because of their great reputation.”
He added, “We are excited because we think that we are in the same conditions as the rest of the teams as far as the boat goes, maybe not so much with the crew, although we´ve added two new Greek members and Sabine Schumann, a German tactician, so we´ll
be there giving our best effort. For people like me, who´ve been sailing for so long, is a dream to sail here, a great satisfaction.”
All the teams from both TP52 and Soto 40 classes have arrived at the venue and will sail in the practice race. The weather conditions at Cartagena are unpredictable, as the winds constantly change their directions. The race course is also one of the most
difficult tracks to sail on.

2. ESP - NOTICIA IV Cascais Trophy (25), Marseille Trophy (22), Rigion of Sardinia Trophy (15) = 62 points
3. ITA - XXII Sardegna Cascais Trophy (23), Marseille Trophy (26), Rigion of Sardinia Trophy (24) = 73 points
4. GBR - NGONI Cascais Trophy (33), Marseille Trophy (26), Rigion of Sardinia Trophy (22) = 81 points
5. ARG - PATAGONIA Cascais Trophy (28), Marseille Trophy (17), Rigion of Sardinia Trophy (42) = 87 points
