Spain’s new crop set to ensure international dominance – Special Feature: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adrián-c3701 (Part 1)
With Spain’s win at the European Championships in 2008, everyone heralded a new era in international football. Like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 did with their win in the 1986 World Cup.
In the FIFA 2010 World Cup, Spain outplayed and outfought their rivals to claim their first World Cup triumph last summer in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757. Spain’s win was seen by some as a “boring” one whilst others marvelled at their display of incisive possession football which meant that football had been changed once more into a game which is more focused on technique and off the ball movement rather than physicality.
Spain’s ideology of defending with the ball at all costs has given them fame and success at the international level but some were starting to wonder whether the current Spanish senior team would be able to hold it together and retain their place at the top till the European Championships in 2012. It would be a remarkable achievement if they do but these doubts have been squashed by the Spanish U-21 team’s win at the U-21 European Championships in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884.
Whilst other big names such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Switzerland-c3016 in the end is a sign of things to come, sign of an Iberian superiority in continental and international football. Barcelona’s win against Manchester United at Wembley only adds to this hype about Spanish dominance but this new Under 21 crop surprisingly looks equally as good as their senior team counter parts for now.
Taking a look at the U-21 Spanish team which won the European Championships in Demark recently, it is easy to see where they can improve the senior team. In Adrian who was the highest goal scorer of the Under 21 European Championships, Spain have a perfect replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 U-21 contingent is a perfect replacement for Villa.
In the midfield department, Thiago Alcantara is a sight to behold in himself. The Barcelona midfielder can be seen as a future Spanish international if Andres Iniesta has some injury issues but in reality, the young playmaker has http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldinho-c31733 like potential if his performances at the U-21 level are to be taken seriously. Already a source of intense transfer speculation, Thiago has a Spanish footballing education to compliment his Brazilian instincts, something that makes for a combustible mix.
In shape of Javi Martinez, Spain are blessed with an heir apparent to Xavi Hernandez. Barcelona’s midfield maestro who was at the heart of his national team’s success in the World Cup last summer can be easily replaced by Javi Martinez who ran the midfield circus from the centre of the park for Spain’s U-21 contingent in Denmark this summer. Moreover, Spain are also well equipped when it comes to defensive replacements. Martin Montoya is already being touted up as the next big thing at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and the Spanish full back can easily replace the aging Capdevila who looks close to an international retirement.
