Cherkasov believes that Luciano Spalletti is furious over Lokomotiv Moscow’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denis-c10837 Glushakov’s failed move to Zenit St. Petersburg.
Luciano Spalletti had earlier requested Gazprom, the St. Petersburg club, to provide him with sufficient funds to add a couple of fringe players to the squad last month. However the request was subsequently rejected by the management.
There’s no arguing that Zenit have conducted very little business during the last two transfer windows.
Though Zenit managed to sign Domenico Criscito from Genoa during the last summer transfer window, they failed to sign reported Spalletti targets, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denis-Glushakov-c10855, this time around.
Some reports had also suggested that Spalletti is set to leave the Petrovsky stadium, after a cold war with the management, during this transfer window.
Consequently, the Italian tactician had to clarify the situation by assuring the fans of his stay until the end of his contract and expressed satisfaction upon the squad at his disposal ahead of the UEFA Champions League tie against

“The present composition is balanced and we are happy about it. We will now try to continue our efforts to progress to the Champions League’s next round.” Spalletti was quoted as saying.
However, the former Zenit St. Petersburg director general, Ilya Cherkasov, has revealed that the former Udinese manager is still not satisfied with the current composition and highlighted Zenit’s failed attempts at signing Lokomotiv
Moscow midfielder during the January transfer window.
If speculations are to be believed, Glushakov’s potential move to Zenit failed to materialize over the asking price. The Moscow-based club value the promising midfielder in the region of 20 million Euros.
“Gazprom are not in a situation to spend on the transfers, at the moment. I don’t believe Spalletti can get Zenit anywhere near the top European teams, with this squad. Zenit are not even near to the top 20 European clubs.
“Lokomotiv are asking 20 million Euros for Glushakov.” The former general director concluded.
Cherkasov went on to reveal that the Meshki will struggle in the Champions League without key signings.
