Spaniard Fernando Alonso confident for 2012 first Grand Prix at Australia – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso is quite confident that the team will sort the issues in the new car in the final pre-season test held at Barcelona before the upcoming 2012 Formula 1 season starting next month at Melbourne, Australia.
After the first pre-season test at the Jerez circuit in Spain, Ferrari felt dejected with the performance of the new car but the things seem to be inclining in favour of the Italian team at second test at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona.
Alonso insisted that he had no concern that he had not been able to win any championship since he had joined Ferrari but he rather expressed that the victory would surely come.
Furthermore, Alonso said that if the team would be successful in winning the first race, it would surely release the pressure but it would be very important to come back in the game if it would fail to take the first win.
The Spaniard said that he is confident despite the Red Bull Racing, the defending champion team, is in a strong position. Moreover, he said that there was almost no difference in the performance of Red Bull and Ferrari in the last two seasons but during
the last year Ferrari was barely in the fight for the tile.
However, Alonso said that the team still had to do plenty of work for the forthcoming season. Nevertheless, he also stated that the team had no reason for not to be ready for the first Grand Prix of the upcoming season.
“We are continuing with development of the new car. Maybe we are only taking small steps forward, but they are coming constantly: in Barcelona, the F2012 was better than it had been in Jerez and it will be better still this week and even more so in Melbourne,”
said Alonso.
“It’s true there are only four more days of testing and we will have to also make use of the first Friday at a race weekend to continue with development, but the car is reasonably complex and needs time, as was the case over the first eight days,” he added.
