Spanish Cup: Ceuta vs Barcelona – Half Time Report (Part 2)
The game started off slow as Barcelona kicked off at the home ground of Ceuta. With Bojan Krkic wearing the captain’s arm band, the team was ready to perform and give its best in the Spanish Cup.
Krkic couldn't really find the net this season and if Zlatan Ibrahimovic was around, Bojan would not get a chance to prove himself because he wasn't showing his worth to Josep Pep Guardiola.
Javier Mascherano, the newly signed Argentinean looked to be quite steady as he was easily winning all the balls in his favourite holding midfield position. He was definitely trying his best to fit in the squad of Barcelona but it was obvious that he needed
some time to do so. Seydou Keita was assisting him in the middle along with Thiago Alcantro who is surely the future star of Barcelona.
In the 16th minute, Barcelona got what they deserved. After trying several times to score, they finally got the break through with the help of one of their most experienced players on the pitch, Maxwell. The Brazilian full back went past two defenders
after giving a pass to Bojan who passed it back to him and he made no mistake in putting the ball into the net. The goal was simply brilliant as the angle was an unusual one.
The match continued with Barcelona keeping most of the possession and the home side were simply chasing shadows. Another breakthrough came in the 25th minute. This time, it was Jeffren who crossed the ball into the 18 yard box and even though
Thiago missed it completely, Pedro Rodriguez made no mistake in sliding the ball into the net as he dived in to finish the job for his team.
With these two goals, Barcelona took complete control of the game and kept the possession to themselves as they did not want the other team to score even a single goal. The young and talented players of Barcelona were shining brightly. The two centre backs
combined well and did not let the team miss its best defenders, Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol.
Right after two minutes, Barcelona got another beautiful chance. It was Thiago who passed the ball out wide to Pedro Rodriguez. The Spanish youngster found Bojan Krkic running alone towards the goal and even though the pass given to Bojan by Pedro was an
inch perfect, the captain only managed to hit the cross bar. The miss was bad but with the team leading the score line, the coach did not really mind the mistake – however, with a player like Bojan in the box, it was expected that he would finish a pass like
that.
There was a little surprise in-stored for Barcelona fans. The captain of the team, Carles Puyol was sitting on the bench with Josep Pep Guardiola but he did not feature because the coach wanted him to rest so that he could be fit for the match against Sevilla
that is going to take place on Saturday.
Jeffren suffered an injury and Nolito was the one who took his position in the left wing position. On the other hand, Gilson Silva came on for Anos in the 45th minute for Ceuta as the home side was trying to change the cause of the game then.
After the half time, Barcelona were leading 2-0 and the visitors were completely in control of the game as they were busy wrapping it all up. They were simply outplaying Ceuta even with their second team and it was seen why Catalan giants were the Spanish
Champions.
